Geographic Locations
The geography of the Holy Land plays a central role in the biblical story. Mountains, valleys, rivers, deserts, and seas shaped the lives of ancient peoples, influenced trade and travel, determined military campaigns, and often served as the setting for significant events recorded in scripture.
The Geographic Locations collection explores the natural features of Israel and the surrounding regions. Here you will find photographs of the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan River, the Dead Sea, the Judean Wilderness, the Jezreel Valley, Mount Hermon, and many other landscapes that formed the backdrop of biblical history.
Understanding the land helps bring the scriptures to life. Distances become more meaningful, journeys more understandable, and events more vivid when viewed in their geographical setting. Through these photographs and accompanying descriptions, visitors can gain a deeper appreciation for the physical setting in which prophets taught, armies marched, kingdoms rose and fell, and Jesus Christ carried out His ministry
Locations are grouped into three broad geographical regions to simplify browsing. The Northern Region includes Galilee and the Golan Heights, the Central Region includes Samaria, Judea, and the Coastal Plain, and the Southern Region includes the Jordan Valley, the Negev, and the Aravah.
